Here is a list of free exercises designed to help you improve your playing. These exercises are designed for all abilities and are not included in the book.

Tom based grooves similar to those found in the Trinity drum kit syllabus can be played using this exercise (Need I Remind You & Way Cool)

Big sounding backbeats and powerful fills created using the flam rudiment.
Latin Influenced Groove Ex 1 2
Loosely based on basic latin/rock styles utilising toms and different bell patterns.
Eighth Note Rhythm and Paradiddle Groove Ex 1 2 3
These sound great and are good preparation for the grade 3 & 4 rudimental exercises.
Indie Rock Rhythms Ex 1 and 2
These variations on the classic amen break groove develop left hand dynamics and hand/foot coordination. Useful preparation material for the grade 3 piece ‘Way Cool’ and ‘Ali’s Boogaloo’ from grade 4.

Use your HH foot to add colour and texture to basic eighth note rhythm examples on the Ride cymbal. Good for grade 4 players and above.
Quarter Note Rhythms with Double Bass 1 2 3
These exercises introduce double bass drum technique by adding off beat 16th notes to the bass drum patterns using the left foot. You can try these patterns with all the backing tracks on the cd but they are ideally suited to the rock tracks and the recently added metal track on this website.
